5. October 31st, 1926, yes Halloween! Harry Houdini died. Supposedly his cause of death was complications from a routine surgery. Several days later it was reported that disgruntled spirit mediums angry about his defaming them were the ones that killed him. As one very famous author and spiritualist stated in a letter he wrote to him that he would “get his just desserts very exactly meted out. … I think there is a general payday coming soon.” The author of that letter to Houdini was also the author of the Sherlock Holmes mysteries and his name was Sir. Arthur Conan Doyle.
